How to view foreign satellite channels in UK and parts of EuropeTo view foreign satellite channels in UK is very easy with today's available options and technology. Below is a simple, no jargon, method of setting up a digital satellite viewing system based on free to air channels. Free channels, because it gets very complicated for someone who may wish to view their countries channels via subscription and the complicated understanding of the encryptions that is needed to use such viewing cards. So here is a simple and very easy method to view satellite channels without much hassle, and this method can also be adopted in Europe where the appropriate satellite footprint can be accessed. Free to Air Satellite TV in English - French - Italian - German - Turkish - Greek - Dutch - Spanish - Cypriot - Arabic - Swedish - Scandinavian - Portuguese etc.
SATELLITE DISH INSTALLATION In the UK, you can erect a 1.1 metre fixed dish pointing to the satellite of your choice. Special equipment may be needed to do this and the dangers involved in positioning this kind of device is not worth taking risks. So get a qualified satellite engineer to install the dish for you with an appropriate LNB (Low Noise Block/Band) and coax cable. If you wish to become a satellite enthusiast, then a motorised system must be your choice. Again, the engineer will advise on the available system. The engineer will secure your chosen dish and set up the path for the arc and all other necessary installation processes in order to obtain signals from about 16 to 20 satellites including Astra - Hotbird - Thor - Hispassat - Sirius - Turksat - Arabsat etc. This is roughly the same process in Europe except the size of dish may vary. Make sure that your local legislation allows the size of dish and its placement.
DIGITAL SATELLITE RECEIVER Assuming all is OK with your Dish setup, you can now attach the coax cable to the back of your chosen receiver such as Technomate, Echostar, Mondeal, Manhattan etc. If you are not sure about this method, again, get the engineer to supply and fit all and to tune up the receiver to receive the satellite channels you wish to view. A motorised system will provide the most available free channels in many languages. It sounds a bit too simple, but really that is all there is assuming you took into account of growing trees and future building work that may obstruct your dish. Today's fixing methods can stand up to very strong winds but nevertheless, get the system checked every year for corrosion of bolts and security of all fixing.
PIRATE STUFF We do not condone the use of conditional access modules (CAM's) for the purposes of viewing paid subscription channels, but you can use an appropriate, or approved device to accommodate a paid subscription card. For instance, if you subscribe to Asianet, you will need a conditional access module that emulates the satellite providers encrypted signals, which may be Viaccess. Of course, your receiver must be of the latest models that have common interface slots for the purposes of using CAM's (Conditional Access Modules). Again, if you wish to view Digiturk, the a paid subscription card is necessary and to use the card you need a CAM called Cryptoworks. The cam emulates the cryptoworks encrypted signals and allows your activated card to be used. This is normally the process for all satellite providers but some may vary. SKY TV IN EUROPE To view Sky TV in UK, and you live in the UK, you simply contact Sky, but if you are an expatriate living in Europe, then Sky cannot provide you with a subscription card. We explain how you can watch here - Sky TV in Europe SATELLITE RECEIVERS Some very sophisticated satellite receivers are now very user friendly and are easy to configure, the one we most recommend is Technomate 5500 DACI. Very user friendly for the beginner and satellite enthusiast.
